Why Collaboration Is a Leadership Strategy
Opening Reflection
🏳️🌈✊🏾 A Dream That Grows Louder
As a cisgender Afro-Latina mother, I dream of a world where my children — and all children — can thrive in acceptance and understanding.
That dream is what drives my latest Coach Dora’s Sunday Reflections on Substack, where I’m celebrating the powerful convergence of Pride and Juneteenth — and what it truly means to show up as an ally, every single day.
Because inclusion isn’t a June initiative. It’s a 365-day commitment — to our children, our colleagues, and our communities.

What I’ve Been Working On
Joining Dominican University of New York
One of the most exciting developments this season is that I will be joining the adjunct faculty at Dominican University New York (DUNY).
Education, mentorship, and leadership development have always been central to my work. I am honored to contribute to the next generation of leaders through teaching, community engagement, and ongoing conversations about what purposeful leadership looks like in today’s evolving workplace.
Fractional CHRO & Consulting Work
My work as a Fractional CHRO, leadership coach, and workplace culture consultant continues to focus on helping organizations navigate:
Leadership development
Workplace culture transformation
Employee engagement
Inclusion and belonging initiatives
Strategic people operations
Whether I am supporting executive teams, facilitating leadership development, or helping organizations navigate workplace change, I continue to see a common theme emerge:
Leaders are searching not only for strategy, but for spaces where they can learn, reflect, and grow together authentically.
The organizations making the greatest impact are investing in both people and performance, recognizing that sustainable success requires both.

Taking the Stage at Disrupt HR DC
May 20th 2026

One of the highlights of May was taking the stage at DisruptHR DC: Say the Quiet Part Out Loud. The energy in the room was incredible, and I left feeling both inspired and encouraged by the conversations that continued long after the talks ended. DisruptHR creates space for the kinds of honest leadership discussions that so many of us are already having behind closed doors, and it was an honor to contribute my voice alongside such thoughtful and courageous speakers. I’m still energized by the experience and grateful to everyone who showed up ready to engage, reflect, and challenge conventional thinking.
A special thank you to my fellow speakers for bringing bold ideas, sharp perspectives, and the courage to challenge the room: Omer Maman, Joni Woods, Donovan Pyle - REBC, CHVP, Sue McKinley, LHP, CCH, Anna T., Nomi Khedawala, and Tiffany Gibbs Jackson, MBA. It was a privilege to share the stage with each of you and contribute to a night of meaningful conversation for the DC HR community.
Video footage from the event is coming soon, and I look forward to sharing it with you.
Partner Spotlight
This month, I’m filled with gratitude for the growing network of organizational partners, ERG leaders, educational institutions, coaching clients, and consulting partners who continue investing in leadership conversations that matter.
A special spotlight on this issue: my partnership with The Rise Journey — an employee experience and HR consulting firm helping organizations across the globe build high-performance cultures through ERG strategy, learning & development, and people-centered solutions. Together, we’re proving that meaningful leadership work happens when we build in community.
In the Community
This month has been filled with meaningful opportunities to connect, learn, and contribute alongside leaders who are shaping the future of work.
From participating in the Technology Association of Grantmakers (TAG) Philanthropy & Security Summit to engaging in conversations following DisruptHR DC, I have been reminded of how interconnected leadership, technology, culture, and human experience have become.
I was also honored to be featured during Small Business Month through the Lower Hudson Valley Small Business Accelerator, highlighting the role entrepreneurship plays in building stronger communities and creating opportunities for future leaders.

Closing Reflection
Lately, I keep returning to this reminder:
Community is not a distraction from leadership.
Community is the strategy.
The most impactful leaders I know are not trying to do everything alone. They are building relationships, creating partnerships, sharing knowledge, and creating opportunities for others to grow alongside them.
Thank you for continuing to be part of this growing leadership community. Your support, engagement, and willingness to lead with courage, curiosity, and authenticity continue to inspire me.
With gratitude,
